K-on is an anime about a rock band formed by high school girls. It's a light and fun anime to watch. Nuff said, it's actually one of the animes I'm looking forward to for this season, and it's also on the 9th episode as of writing this post.

Devil May Cry Anime Review

Devil May Cry is based on a game on PS. The idea is kind of cool, in fact it seems to be what this anime is about. The graphics and the coolness and the sound is, however, the only thing I don't really like about this anime is that the hero Dante seems to be literally invincible. Well, having an invincible character is not too bad, but it doesn't do well to have all his enemies so easily defeated. It's like in this whole series, he has only been fighting small fry, and no real boss-type level. I guess that's what disappointed me. Although there was indeed a "boss" in the final episode, he didn't have that much trouble defeating that one as well.

Oh well, so much for this anime. I still think that Hellsing and Claymore top the animes of this demon-action genre.

Cross Game Anime Review

Cross Game is an anime that revolves around baseball. It's one of the anime that I'm looking forward to watching, since it's still ongoing. Cross Game's plot is light and enjoyable. The graphics fits the lightness of the mood--the art is nothing too complicated and has a tinge of childishness in it. But don't judge this anime by its cover.

As of writing this post it's already on its 9th episode. I'm expecting more fun and adrenaline in the next battles of fast pitching and batting.

Skip Beat Anime Review

I find Skip Beat really fun to watch, what with Mogami's interesting character that switches from her kind personality to her mean side. Honestly, in the start I didn't feel like watching it because I've heard that it's about showbiz and acting. And the drawing on the cover looks like it's a new anime drawn a decade or two ago, with the sailormoon type of art. But I was really mistaken, it has good story, great art, and the characters are lovable.

The story revolves around Kyoko Mogami who decided to join the showbiz world and become an actor in order to get her revenge against Fuwa Sho, who dumped her. Well, it's not really a love story, although it does have some parts of that. But it's really fun, it can be touching at times, and again, fun most of the time.

Toradora! Anime Review

Toradora is a really fun anime. It's the type of anime that's a slice of teenage life--school, fun, love, and friends.

Toradora consists of 25 episodes and revolves around 5 main characters: Ryuuji, Taiga, Minorin, Ami, and Kitamura.

If you like anime's like School Rumble, Lucky Star, Honey and Clover, and Air, then I would highly recommend watching this anime as well.

Kannagi Anime Review

The anime is quite fine. It's composed of 13 episodes. The animation is quite okay, nothing too serious with the plot, and it can be a bit fun at times. One thing I really like about Kannagi is it's ending song.

Baccano!

The first episode of Baccano, I felt a similarity with Hellsing. I guess it's in the part that the vampires in Hellsing can't be killed, and the Immortals in Baccano sort of have the same capability.

Naruto Episode 86 and 87 from NarutoGet.com

It's really fun watching Naruto Shippuuden, especially now that Naruto has mastered something new again--his new wind element Rasengan. I'm currently watching episode the two episode special, episodes 86-87 where Naruto faces the Akatsuki member who uses hairs and has 5 hearts. This Akatsuki member won't die if you destroy just one of his hearts, but you also have to destroy the other 4.

Meanwhile, Shikamaru faces Hidan, the seemingly immortal guy who can put a curse on you such that if he stabs himself, then the one who has the curse will also suffer damage. Since the guy is seemingly immortal, it's a pretty devastating technique. Sadly, it was that technique that killed Asuma.

Claymore 88 just out on manga!

OneManga just released an English scanlation for Claymore 88! It's pretty exciting to learn of the next events that would happen on this really cool anime/manga. I started watching Claymore season 1 as an anime and have been addicted to it ever since. Now, since there's no news of them releasing a season 2 for the anime, I'm following Claymore on Manga.

Lucky Star Anime Review

Lucky Star has been quite fun to watch. It's an anime about a group of friends, and just their everyday life. Despite not having any serious plot behind it, it feels kind of something from real life and reminds me of some people I know. I guess that's what makes this anime fun.

I enjoy the conversations, the interactions, and how the characters act. I would definitely recommend watching this anime. It's 24 episodes, with one 40 or so minutes OVA.

Two of the sites that I've frequented lately are NarutoGet.com and Watch-OnePiece.com. You can watch streaming anime through these sites, with no limit on how many hours you'd like to watch, as opposed to sites that rely on MegaVideo to host their videos.

Thanks to these two sites, I'm quickly catching up to the latest of these two anime series.

Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann

Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann is an anime that at first, I found quite simple, and made for children only. Perhaps what influenced me to think that was its graphics. But as it progressed, I found it quite enjoyable to watch, especially after the "seven years" gap on the other half of the series, that is, after episode 14 or 15 (I forgot which one exactly).

It's the story of a series of battles: to regain the right of humans to live in the surface and be free from the clutch of Beastmen; to fight against the anti-Spirals who seek to destroy the Planet and all who possess the will of Spirals (any creature with DNA), and to destroy the anti-Spirals.

Honey and Clover (Hachimitsu to Kurōbā) is really nice to watch. It's a mix of fun, romance, seriousness, and friendship. I found myself enjoying one episode after another, and deeply enjoyed both season one and season two.

I actually wasn't expecting much from this anime. I wasn't really moved much by the first 12 episodes. But I deeply enjoyed the ending, the way I would enjoy watching Alucard in Hellsing. Now, the ending, THAT pumped some adrenaline.

I guess I have a thing for monsters. Hahahaha

Anyway, I did laugh a bit in the previous episodes, but not so much. Much of the time, I found this anime flat. But the way it ended, definitely worth watching. And it's only 13 episodes anyway.

At first, I thought this was one of those serious type animes, and so I stopped at the first 10 minutes and decided that the drawings of the unnatural beings are too childishly freaky. The idea of such things existing in the real world could give me nightmares! Anyway, upon watching it again, I found that it was actually quite fun. Especially when Madara, or Nyako-chan came into the story.

Well, I'm actually already looking forward to watching the next episodes.

Clannad

Clannad sort of has the same feel as Air. It's a lite anime. I particularly like the art, graphics, and animation. Especially the background music and sound effects. This is to be expected from the same producers as with Air.

It also has that serious, fun, mystery, and sad mix that can really move you. Laugh, cry, and enjoy the scenes. The same with Air, Clannad also has that theme of weirdness, a deep serious story behind the cuteness and funny scenes.

Weird, but adorable characters. The ache at finding that some of the characters are dreams, fading. The company of friends. I'm just babbling ideas that come to mind when I think of Clannad, but I guess it summarizes some of what this anime is about.

Itazura na Kiss

I found this anime quite okay. But it gets better in the later episodes. It's sort of a school love story, that progresses (sort of jumps) from high school, to college, to their adult life. Now I'm not so much into mushy animes, but I found some scenes quite sweet, and I can relate with some of the challenges faced by the couple Naoki and Kotoko.

So I guess I'd say Itazura na Kiss is worth watching. There are fun episodes too, there are some could-have-been-better scenes, but over all, this is not really a waste of time. Despite the few not-so-good scenes, I still find myself looking forward for the next episodes.

Shaman King

Back when this was still on TV, I found it quite an interesting idea to have the ghost of a samurai as your source of power. So it's a battle between shamans who can use the power of their comrade spirit and gain the skills of that certain spirit.

This was the type of anime where I just couldn't wait until the next episode. By today's standards though, I don't really feel too attached with this anime. Aside from the idea of controlling their spirits and gaining their skills and strengths.

All in all though, this anime is not so bad. The ending didn't turn out so bad either. It was good, in it's time, and it's still worth watching.

Boring and Fun Anime

l was a bit bored watching the first few episodes of Serial Experiments Lain. You could put it in the weird and surreal genre. I'm not really against those kings of animes, but so far, this anime still hasn't captured me. I guess I'd prefer watching weird animated movies by Hayao Miyazaki for example, or something like Madlax. Madlax is weird, but it has cool action scenes that make up for it.

D.Gray Man's concept is quite nice, however, I think it needs to be done again. Like, produced by another team or something. There are just some scenes that make me want to scream at the producer or somthing, or whoever's fault that is.

Anyway, I just mentioned this post because there are just boring animes... And fun animes. Fun, like Bleach, or Naruto, or One Piece, or School Rumble. Or more serious anime that are really well produced, like Ninja Scrolls, or what. I usually judge an anime not by the coolness of the graphics or what, but by the way they move me. If a scene is meant to be funny, then it should make me laugh. If a scene is meant to be touching, then it should move me to tears. Boring animes are those that attempt to do so, but fail miserably.

But then again, maybe it's not that easy to produce good anime right? Even with great storyline and manga, it might still not be easy I guess.

One Piece | Monkey D. Luffy's Family!!

Monkey D. Luffy's family is really powerful. For one, Gold Roger was THE pirate king. His name was really Gol D. Roger (I only noticed this after watching the One Piece episodes thrice, I believe it was Doctorine who mentioned it indirectly, saying Gol D., and commenting about "Gold"... "So that's what they call him nowadays, Gold Roger."). Ace D. Portgas, one of the strongest among Whitebeard's crew is his brother. The vice admiral and giant friend of Nico Robin was also a D.

Luffy and his crew's bounty just keep on growing! I know this is just an anime, but I really love One Piece! It has very simple character drawings, but the story is very deep and moving.

Claymore | Humans vs Yoma

Claymore is a 26 episode anime that tells the story of Clare, one of the warriors hired by a secret Order that is the only force that keeps creatures called Yoma at bay. Yoma are creatures that rely on human organs as their food, and are thus feared throughout the land. Humans are basically no match against a Yoma.

The only people who stand a chance of fighting Yomas are Claymores. Females modified by the Order, by incorporating Yoma flesh in their bodies, which makes them very strong, but for the price that they are bound to become Yomas someday. The more they use their powers, the faster they will become Yomas. The more they come close to releasing a hundred percent of their strength, the greater the risk that they can no longer return to being human. Thus, a Claymore's only salvation is before she turns into a Yoma, she asks another Claymore, preferably someone close to her, to slay her. A Claymore generally wishes to die as a human, rather than a Yoma.

While I found the art for the female warriors called Claymore a little bit disturbing, in that they have this agelessness feature ( a face that may well belong to a baby yet with that look of knowing that just cannot belong to a child), I truly enjoyed the plot, the concept of the Claymores, the price they had to pay for that power, and the fast-paced fight scenes. Their apparent agelessness, by the way, sort of reminds me of the description for the Aes Sedai from the epic fantasy series novels of the Wheel of Time.

This anime would just give me the excitement, the thrill of battle. Whenever the Claymore unleash their powers, I get goosebumps and feel my adrenaline rise too.

While I was very excited to watch one episode and another, I felt a bit disappointed with the ending. Not that Claymore is a bad anime, but I guess I was craving for more! There were enemies that I wanted them to face, but they weren't given the chance to face them. It's like this anime ended just before the climax I was waiting for. I was expecting to see the battles against the top ranks of the enemies, but no, they had to end it just before that.

I demand a season two for Claymore! hahaha

This anime is COOL. This is about the Hellsing Institution and their local vampire Alucard, (Dracula in reverse). This anime simply gives me goosebumps everytime Alucard rises from a pretty torn up shape. You could chop his body in bullets, cut his head, pierce him with sacred blades, but he's simply INVINCIBLE. He is a Class A vampire with really cool powers. Yes, COOL is the word. Enemies can tear him to pieces, but no matter what they do, he just won't be defeated. He can rise back from the dead, and destroy anyone who stands in his way.

One Piece: An Anime with a Heart

When I first looked at the graphics and the way the characters are drawn, I thought to myself, I drew stuff like this when I was 12. I had the first impression that this was one of those animes that won't really leave a lasting impression on me.

How wrong I was.

By the end of the first episode, I had a BIG WIDE SMILE on my face, and I told myself, this is good. I consumed one episode upon another. This is one anime that I would want my future children to watch and learn from. Yes, LEARN from.

This is an anime that has made me laugh, and made me cry, both at their extremes. It can be totally hilarious, but at times, but it can also be very deep and touching.

Why One Piece is so enjoyable

The characters are well balanced, and each of them has very unique traits that set them apart from each other. Each of them has their own dreams, their own pain, and their own inner struggles. Yet despite their differences, they are tied by the strong bond of being nakama, which means something like a friend, or companion, but something much much deeper.

Luffy the Gomu Gomu (Devil's Fruit) User, the captain of the pirate ship Going Merry, is someone who rushes into a situation without a plan. If there is a plan, most probably he won't be able to follow it anyway--he doesn't use his mind to think. He acts based on his guts. His dream is to become the Pirate King!

Zoro the PirateHunter. He carries three katanas (swords). His dream is to become the greatest swordsman in the world.

Nami the Navigator. Nami started off as a thief stealing gold from other pirates. She has a deep reason for doing so, which is only disclosed far into the later episodes. She hates pirates, but decided to join Luffy's crew for her own 'selfish' reasons. Her battle skills are normal, however she gets stronger through the help of Ussopp's invention: the Clima Tact. Her dream is to completely map the world.

Ussopp the Liar. Well, Ussopp the Inventor. Hehe. But Ussopp is actually a pun for the word lie in japanese. Ussopp is the boy who cried wolf. Since the day his mother was sick, he would cry out to his village that pirates are coming, since his father is a pirate. Compared to the battle strengths of Luffy and Zoro, his skills are pretty normal. He's usually the first to freak out from a threat. In the much later parts of the episode, he invents weapons for use by Nami.

Sanji the Cook. His battle style is using his feet. He is an apprentice of a very fierce pirate. And he cooks good. His goal is to find ALL BLUE, the sea where all the fish in the world meet, and where he can get those fish and cook them yumm yumm.

Chopper. Chopper is also a Devil's Fruit user. He transforms from a little reindeer, to a big gorilla, to a large hair ball, to a fast reindeer, to a powerful horn deer, and to a gigantic, destructive monster. He's the ship's doctor. Next to Ussopp, he also freaks out at danger.

This is one of those animes that will forever hold a place in my heart. Whenever I recall this anime, I feel a certain ache.

This anime starts off lite, cute, and fun. The scenes and episodes just pass without you being aware of the time. But this anime has a deeper, more serious side to it.

The girl suffers from a curse that runs in her family. It is the curse of the winged people. She carries the memories of a past persona, of a winged woman who suffered gravely. Every time she dreams, she goes forward in living that memory. She experiences the pain experienced by the winged woman. The time will come that in that dream, the woman will die, and so will the girl.

Air also has a movie, which focuses more on the events several decades ago regarding the winged girl and her friends.
